baby jacob birth story (long)

on Nov 17th @ 10am we got to the hospital cause i was having regular contractions, they had the monitor on my stomach for 2 hours and i didn't progress so they sent me home @ 3cm. through out the day my contractions got worse and worse, i laid on the couch and finally around 10pm we decided to go back to the hospital. they admitted me because at this point i was 5cm. at about 12am they gave me the epidural, and then i felt no pain, a couple hours later they gave me pitocin to speed up the process. at 6:50am the nurse told me to start pushing, and her and john could see Jacob's head. so they called in the doctor, and i pushed for 20 mins. he was born Nov 18th 2010 @ 7:11am. 8lbs 7oz. 20"long.

Jacob was not breathing when he was born, he was all blue. the second he came out 20 doctors, nurses and kaiser officials rushed in our room. the doctor cut the umbilical cord (john couldn't) they rushed him to the baby table and all began working on him to get him to start breathing. i couldn't see anything, i was still in the birthing position (legs up in the air) i had to still deliver the placenta, but i couldn't because my uterus closed on the end of the placenta preventing it from being able to come out. so my doctor had 7 other doctors and nurses come in to help me with the 20 doctors and nurses were helping Jacob. the room was total craziness.
they put a breathing tube down Jacob's throat, a nurse yelled "we need a crash cart in here" the doctor rolled Jacob over to me and said he may be having a seizure. asked me if i wanted to touch him, before they took him away. i was so scared. i couldn't do anything, i couldn't move, i am being worked on myself.
john went to the nicu with Jacob and i had a doctor scraping my placenta out with a metal horse shoe shaped tool. an hour later my placenta was out, they put it in a red bucket to be examined.
they wheeled me into the nicu to meet baby Jacob, the doctors had done a bunch of blood tests on him to see if he was OK. we were in there forever and finally john and i were able to go to our new room, where we would stay till we left the hospital. Jacob was in nicu for 4 hours and all his tests came back clear. so they brought him to us in our room, and i got to hold him, feed him and lay with him. we were still scared and unsure if he would be OK. the reason he wasn't breathing when he was born was because when he took his first breath he swallowed maconium (baby poop). when that happens it causes the baby to stop breathing, and could kill the baby. we were so lucky to have such a great team of nurses and doctors, their fast response and knowledge saved my Jacob.
that night my parents brought Ryan to meet Jacob, they left, john's friend Ryan came, then john's parents, then my aunt Terri, then Emily, Kristina & Sarah came. Jacob had so many visitors his first day. I'm so happy he is loved by all our family & friends.

poor bubba

today i was getting Ryan reading for school, and he kept saying his tummy hurt. he said he still wanted to go to school, so right as we were about to leave the house, he puked in the garbage can in the kitchen.
yuck! i felt so bad for him, he said he still wanted to go so we get in the car, drive for about 5 mins and i had to pull over so he could puke again (in the bushes) i got him out of the car in time.
then i decided no school today, i didn't want him getting other kids sick, and i didn't want him puking in class. so we stayed home, and he ended up being better.

as all this was going down, my aunts were coming over to visit. i haven't seen my one aunt in 3 years, and she has only met Ryan twice. so it was better he was home so he could meet her again.
after they left, Ryan and I went to Kohl's, and bought a couple Tony Hawk long sleeve shirts for him and a cute Christmas outfit for baby Jacob.

then Ryan and I went on a dinner date to Red Robin (Ryan's favorite restaurant).

this morning was chaotic, but by the end of the day, Ryan was feeling way better so I'm happy.
tomorrow...... Karate & Swim Lessons

busy like a bee

i haven't posted a new blog in a month, why??? because i have been so busy the past four weeks, and i figure no one really reads my blog, so it didn't matter much.

went to Sarah's birthday BBQ, which was a lot of fun!! ryan & john went swimming, and i got to play a rad card game with the crew.

went to pine crest for 3 days, i rented a cabin and john, ryan & i enjoyed being outdoors in the woods, at the lake, eating ice cream, and fishing.

labor day weekend, we had a few friends over for a BBQ and then went to the local hockey rink to play hockey.

the next day i mentioned to my mom i was dragging john furniture shopping cause i wanted a recliner couch. she insited on buying it. we went to Macy's furniture and found a perfect love seat and both sides recline!!! with cup holders, so i basically can sit in it all day and watch t.v. and movies with Ryan. i have only done it one day, but my dream is once baby is here i can sit in it everyday and relax with my boyz.

went to Ryan's girlfriends birthday party Natasha. it was at pump it up. the kids all had a blast! and the pizza was yummy!!

Friday went to the Harvest Festival with Ryan, did some Xmas shopping. while we were there, john called me and said he got 4 FREE tickets to the Giants game that night. we get to the Giants game, not knowing where our seats were, and a lady told us we had CLUB SEATS!! woo hoo! we sat super close, and the club level has its own bar, and restaurants, and no line in the bathroom (bonus for me).

Saturday & Sunday we went to Billetproof car show. we had a vendor booth and made $700.00.
i got to see a lot of models i know, and saw some vendors we know, also met new vendors that were really nice. it was a lot of work, but worth it, cause now i have Christmas shopping money.

today i went to toys r us, while Ryan was at school. toys r us is a having a huge sale buy 2 get one free on most toys through out the store. i filled my cart, with Ryan's birthday & Christmas presents, and Christmas presents for Nora, Natasha, Jasmine & Iris. I'm all done with toy shopping for the holidays and i can now cross that off my to do list.

tomorrow we go to the Sharks fan appreciation day. we get in for FREE, get FREE  dinner and get to meet all the Sharks players and take pictures with them, then we get to watch them practice. and after the practice, we can ice skate with them. how amazing is all that. i feel so lucky we were chosen.

sat we go to the sharks pre season game with john's friend big Ryan.

the past 5 weeks have been amazing and this week is going to be just as fun!!

I have been doing ALL this AND....... I have been taking Ryan to......

School= Monday Wed Fri
Swimming= Tue & Thurs
Karate= Thurs

he has activities Monday-Friday
which means i have activities Monday-Friday

i have busy like a bee, and i love every second of it!
yes the doctor has me on bed rest, and yes i should be resting. but how can i rest with a 4 1/2 year old
that is so active, wild, and crazy. there is no time for rest and laziness. otherwise i will miss out on
him growing up.

pictures to be posted on my photo bucket in the week or so.

jamba juice ~ i love you ~

i am a big fan of jamba juice. i love that my safeway has one, i get one every time i am grocery shopping.
its approx $3.50 for the small one. my favorite flavor is Strawberries Wild with a daily vitamin boost.

Jamba Juice is genius, they have come up with a frozen bag for $2.50.
all you do is buy the frozen bag, and a bottle of apple juice.

poor the contents of the bag into your blender @ home and add 8oz. of apple juice.
blend for 60 seconds, and ta da. you have got your very own 16oz glass of jamba juice.

for less than the cost of buying it at the actual jamba juice counter, and you can make it when ever you want. i often find myself wanting one at 8pm, and they are closed. now that doesn't matter. i can make my own in one minute. anytime of the day!!!

i'm drinking mine right now. and it tastes just like the real thing.
you should go to your local grocery store and buy a bag, try it, and let me know what you think.

xoxo

baby update

i haven't posted a new blog in a month or so. we have been so busy this summer, and we will be even more busy in the coming weeks. i love keeping busy, and taking Ryan to fun exciting places weekly. I'm spoiling him this summer, since this summer is the last summer he will be an only child. i love spending every day with him, he brings such joy to my life. everyday he learns new things, and teaches me new things.

now update about baby in my belly:
as you probably know by now baby b. is a BOY!
and John, Ryan & I are so excited!
baby boy still has no for sure name.... we are pretty sure on a first name, but no middle name yet.
baby b. is healthy and happy and growing and kicking me all the time. he is very active, and i think he wants to break out. but he has to wait till Nov 15th (i wouldn't mind if he came out a week or two sooner)

as for me, i went to doctor yesterday, i still haven't gained weight, which makes me happy. i have plenty of fat to share with baby, no need to gain more. i have been eating better and exercising more. i plan to keep this routine once baby is here.
as of yesterday i am on bed rest/ disability leave. my cysts are causing more pain each day, as baby gets bigger and puts more pressure on my ovaries. so i will not return to work until well after baby is born.
this is a huge weight off my shoulders, i am always worried at work that just by working i will harm myself more. i act like I'm fine, i work just the same as i would when I'm healthy, i don't want sympathy, or to be treated like I'm disabled. so by working my butt off i cause myself more pain.

i talked to doctor about having a c-section so she can remove the cysts while baby is born, but she said no. having a c-section may be more harmful to baby and me, there are possibilities of bacterias harming us, and if there are complications with the cysts it could also hurt baby.
so i will have the baby naturally, and 6 weeks after baby is born, i will have surgery to remove cysts.
not what i wanted (but its what's best) . this means i will spend several weeks fully healing from baby being born, then right after several weeks of recovering from surgery. all during thanksgiving & Ryan's birthday & Christmas.  this holiday season will be exciting since i will have a new baby to love, but at the same time its going to be the hardest holiday season i will probably ever have.
but I'm strong, and stubborn, and i have John and Ryan loving me and supporting me every step of the way. I'm lucky to have them, and I'm so grateful.

great america with Nora

a couple days after we got home from our la vacation we went to Great America with
Nora & Thad. And i had a blast!! i think i went on 2 rides, but it was still fun watching Nora and
Ryan having so much fun together.

look at how beautiful Nora is.... hopefully one day Ryan marries her. She makes me so happy, i love her so much!

Ryan, Nora, Thad, and John spent 4 hours in the water park, while i sat and relaxed on a beach chair.
then they went on rides for 3 hours. it was a long day for me and my big belly, but everyone had fun!

check out all the pictures from Great America

disneyland & l.a. roadster show

for fathers day weekend we went to Disneyland for one day (we had free passes from the give a day get a day program) it was A TON of fun! Terri & Darryl went with us, and Ryan loved hanging out with them and sitting next to Darryl on all the rides. i only went on a couple rides, thanks to being pregnant. but i had fun sitting on benches and people watching while everyone else went on the rides. we watched Fantasmic and i haven't seen it in probably 10 yrs, since i never liked it. but it was totally worth me saving us a seat for 2 hrs while Ryan & John went on rides.
I'm excited to go again next year for fathers day AND we are already planning a 5 day Disneyland trip for Nov 2011 (baby boy's 1st b-day).

The next day after Disneyland we went to the Disneyland hotel and had breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen and ate an amazing breakfast with all the Disney characters. then off to the LA Fairgrounds in Pomona to set up for the Fathers Day weekend car show. I sold my clothing and we sold the event shirts. tons of people were there, probably the biggest car show i have been to. The best part of the car show was being there with almost my entire family. my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and long time family friends. when i was a kid, Emily, my brother and i would travel all over going from car show to car show selling shirts with our family. this trip brought back old memories and made me so happy and thankful for the amazing family i have.
I'm excited Ryan and soon baby boy with be growing up like i did, selling shirts and traveling from show to show. its always a great time!!

we all went to dinner at the hotels restaurant and it was super good!!
i love the hotel too, I'm excited to stay there again next year.
we are use to crappy motels, and this hotel was the nicest i have stayed in!

overall our 5 day trip was so much fun!
and I'm counting the days till next year when we
get to do it all over again.

hockey practice

yesterday we woke up at 4:30am to get ready for Ryan's first hockey practice. we had to be in San Jose at 7am. that's how it will be every Saturday morning. 7am practice and 7 am games. uuuggggg.
this "soccer mom" "hockey mom" thing is going to be tough for me to handle. i can wake up that early, i just struggle to get out of the house that early.
he had alot of fun at his first practice and he was a wayyy better skater than most of the kids there. about 40 kids ages 2-12. Ryan skated backwards, on one foot, and he only fell once. my little man is a born hockey player.

after practice we went to my favorite mall in San Jose (Oakridge). its not just a normal mall, its huge! with a 2 story target and a movie theatre. we saw Karate Kid. and that movie was rad!!! then we hung out at the mall for 4 more hours. i haven't hung out at the mall that long since high school. it was a good time! Olive Garden for dinner, was the best way to end the day! we were out and about for 12 hours. what a long day.

today (Sunday) we went to Safeway and bought all our food for DISNEYLAND and the car show in L.A.
Ryan and I hung out in the front yard for a few hours, he played in his little walmart plastic pool, and i sat in the shade. for dinner john bbqed, and now Ryan & John are at the hockey park while i watch t.v.
yay for a relaxing day, and an awesome weekend!!

the best part of today...... i felt baby kick twice for the first time! a few mins after i had some nutter butter cookies, so i'm thinking the baby likes nutter butter. it was pretty exciting! now im laying around waiting for it to happen again.

countdown to Disneyland ...... 4 days!!

baby update

today i went to my doctor appointment, thinking i was having an ultra sound to check on the cysts and tear in the placenta wall. and then my plan was to ask the doctor if the baby was a boy or girl.

well, my doctor didn't plan on doing an ultra sound AT ALL. her plan was to make me drive 30 mins each way, to see her, just so she can ask me how i have been feeling. uuuummmm are you kidding me? i don't pay hundreds of dollars each time i come just for you to ask me how I'm feeling.
she wanted to discuss my feelings on having surgery to remove the cysts. and i told her i do not want surgery, i will deal with the daily pain, until baby is born. then i will have surgery.

so after we talked about surgery, i said " if your nice you would give me the ultra sound"
i think she got a little offended. but she did it, and I'm glad.
john & i both took today off work to see the baby. and i wasn't leaving there until i got to see.

ultra sound, found no tear in placenta wall. SCORE! that means it healed, which means i am less likely to have a miscarriage. woo hoo to that!
ultra sound didn't find any cysts, but i know they are still there, because i feel the horrid stabbing pain in my gut several times a day. so i have to wait to go to radiology ultra sound in two weeks, then i will know for sure if the cysts are there or not.

as far as baby.... we still don't know if its a boy or girl. we couldn't see the area :(
but we did see the heart beat, and it was going strong.
we saw a close up of the face, and its so cute!! i cant wait to meet he or she.
baby was looking right at us, big eye sockets (kinds creepy) and opening and closing the mouth, like he/she was talking to us.

doctor still wont let me go on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy, she said wait 6 weeks, and if I'm still having horrible pains, then i can stop working.

i wont find out if its a boy or girl till i go back in 2 weeks. i hope the next 2 weeks go by super fast.

our three day weekend

Saturday: i thought the antique fair was downtown, so Ryan and i decided to take a walk and check it out
on our way we picked up Clayton's friends dog Penny. Ryan & I love Penny!! she is the best dog ever!
we took penny downtown and realized the antique fair wasn't Saturday it was Sunday. so we were a day early.
Ryan and i took penny to the park, and then we walked to cold stone, and then we took penny to her favorite doggy store. she picked out some treats and i bought them for her. we walked for 2 hours. it was a perfect day.

Sunday: Ryan, John and I walked downtown to the antique fair. I was on hunt to find a birdcage. After walking around for 2 hours i found one i loved. it was only $30. John is going to make me a stand to put it on, and i will have it in our bird themed dinning room. After the antique fair we ran a bunch of errands
and then had my parents and john's parents over for a bbq. it was a perfect day for a bbq. and i love having people over. if we could have a bbq with friends or family every weekend i would be a happy mama.
after the family left i took out the garbage, and the dumpster is a couple min walk from our house, we have train tracks right next to our house, and i heard a kid screaming at the top of his lungs over and over, "i want to fucking die" "i want the train to kill me now" i went in the house, told john, got my cell phone and called the cops. it took the cops 10 mins to get to the train tracks, the whole time the kid was freaking out. he saw the cops coming and he took off running, they went chasing after him, with machine guns. and well that's it, we don't know what happened, hopefully he is ok.

Monday: john was suppose to work, but i convinced him to stay home. we went to ikea to buy a dresser for baby. i haven't bought anything yet for baby, because i don't want to get to excited or attached since i don't know for sure if the baby will make it. i know that doesn't sound very nice, but its the truth.
so we bought a dresser, and a rack to hang on the wall to hold diapers and butt wipes. i also got a rad frame i have been wanting forever, and its huge and wonderful. i just have to figure out what room its going in, and if I'm going to put fabric in the frame or a picture, or both.

sorry for this long blog, we had a very eventful weekend.
and another fun weekend planed for next week.

i heart disneyland

as you probably know John, Ryan and I are super Disneyland fans. we love all things things Disneyland
and if i lived in southern California i would go to Disneyland everyday.
but since we live 6 hrs away sadly we can only go to Disneyland once a year.

our next trip to Disneyland is 22 days away.... 3 weeks. I'm so excited i just cant hide it!!!!

when we go there will be 2 new stores that will have just opened. i cant wait to be one of the first to check them out......

"Have you heard the news? This week we are opening two new shops at the Disneyland Resort. Whether you’re looking for delectable treats to satisfy your sweet tooth or you have an eye for the perfect wardrobe accessory, one of our new destinations is surely going to appeal to you. Plans for the two new shops are well under way and the talented teams at the Disneyland Resort are fully immersed in the hustle and bustle of last minute touches to these exciting new shops.

On May 26, the place to be is…Geppetto’s Sweet Shoppe in Fantasyland, especially if you’re craving something particularly sweet. Some of the most delectable treats you’ll ever taste, including peanut brittle, toffee and more will be at your fingertips."

pictures of Geppetto's Sweet Shoppe have not been released yet, but when we go in 3 weeks i will not only be taking pictures of it, i plan on buying tons of candy from the sweet shoppe.

this is the one picture that has been released of the new jewelry store that's opening
"But if it’s jewelry, handbags and trendy ‘must have’s’ that you crave, then the crown jewel in your fashion collection will definitely be found at Jewel of Orleans. Set to open May 28, this new shopping destination will offer stylish accessories from designers like Tarina Tarantino, Classic Hardware as well as handbags by such notable fashion houses such as Steve Madden and Dooney & Bourke, among other designers as well."
