how to start couponing

i have always used coupons, working at longs/cvs for 11 years i have learned from customers how to get good deals on stuff. but the past month, i have really focused on learning more about saving more. as you may know i have been on medical disability from work for 6 months already, and i will continue to be on disability for another 2 months. this means not a lot of money is coming in, which means i have to try and save anyway i can.

where to find coupons:

-Sunday newspaper- ( buy one out of a machine or get a subscription and have it delivered.)
-target- go to target.com scroll down to bottom of main page, click coupons, and print the coupons you need.
-grocery stores- also have coupons on their websites, print them before you go.
-drug stores- also have printable coupons on their websites
-coupons.com- (i use this site weekly)
-couponsuzy.com- (has most of the same coupons as coupons.com, but some different ones too)
-ebay.com- (yes people sell coupons on ebay and for cheap! perfect for when you want x10 of something)

the key to couponing is only buy something when its on sale & you have a coupon.
you get twice the savings this way.

if you have coupons & its on sale buy several, you may not need them all right then, but you will sooner or later and if you buy it with a coupon & sale now, you will avoid paying full price later.

to find out what is on sale before its actually on sale will help you plan for the weeks ahead, so you know what coupons you need and when its best to use them.
the three sites i read daily to find out the best deals are:

- iheartriteaid.com
- iheartcvs.com
- iheartwalgreens.com

the sale ads are posted weeks in advance, i write a list of items i need/want and put it in an envelope with the matching coupons. then when i go to the store, i only buy what is on my list. if you stray from the list and impulse buy you will spend money you shouldn't.

if you have an iphone get the free app "a full cup" it is a discussion board where people talk about sales, coupons and how to get the most merchandise for the least amount of money.
you don't have to be a member, you can just lurk like i do ;)

if you have any questions, leave a comment or email me @ vanityexposed1@hotmail.com
i am happy to help you anyway i can.

i heart coupons

i havent posted in a couple months..... been super busy with ryan and baby jacob.

since i am still on disibility leave, and not getting paid as much from the state as i was while working.... i have had to find ways to stretch my dollars.

i am a COUPONER! and i'm getting pretty good at it if i do say so myself.......

my plan is to share a couple of my bargin deals with my readers each week, so you to can take advantage of great deals on things we all use/need daily.

Today: Jan 12 2011

i made two separate trips to two different rite aids today.

trip one:
4x care free 16 count packs of panty liners
2x stay free 14 count panty liners
x3 secret deodorants

had $21.00 in coupons
saved $32.47 total
total was $9.75 after tax
and got $8.00 in coupons at bottom of my receipt for next time

so i actually only paid $1.75 for all that

trip two:
x4 boxes special k cereal
x2 packs of plastic container things for leftovers

had $10.98 in coupons
saved $20.56 total
and got $4.00 in coupons at the bottom of my receipt for next time

so i only paid the cashier .85 cents and got $4.00 for next time

now all this may be confusing to some, it was super confusing to me 3 weeks ago, and i have worked at longs/cvs for 11 years. i am just learning how to really use coupons to get the best price and to get stuff for next to no cost & even free. but you too can learn, and i will be happy to help.

freebie of the week:
special k cereal 12 oz. box

first: sign up on riteaid.com for their wellness card
second: click this link http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=yaemcru6201985&bt=vi&o=81160&c=SK&p=tMHjYwsz
print out the coupon, hit the back button to print it again
limit 2 prints per computer
third: go to rite aid before Saturday night (1/15/2011) grab 2 boxes of special k for every coupon you have.
1 coupon = 2 boxes
2 coupons = 4 boxes
fourth: give cashier your printed wellness card from riteaid.com , hand them cereal, and then coupons.
you will get them for FREE! and at the bottom of your receipt you will have a $1 coupon for each box toward your next purchase.

that's free cereal and more coupons for next time!! SCORE!

let me know if you do this deal.... or if you have your own post it as a comment.
check back for more deals weekly.

xoxo Laura
